In 2022 we saw the rise of Ai art generators like Midjourney, DALL·E 2, or Stable Diffusion. We can only speculate what the next years will bring.
I expect Ai art to quickly replace stock pictures: Instead of relying on pictures, everyone else is using I can now quickly create unique images that depict exactly what I am saying in my articles.
But this is only one field that will be disrupted.
So, it is no wonder that a lot of people are scared by the thought of Ai-generated art transforming our society in the upcoming times. They worry that it’ll replace them, their creativity, or their source of income.
But not everything is doom and gloom because this revolution will also open up a lot of new opportunities.
One new job created by Ai art is the job of the prompt engineer.
What is a Prompt Engineer?
This is a person who is engineering creative prompts for inputting them into tools like Midjourney. At first, glance, using an Ai prompt generator is easy. In reality, creating good results is more time-consuming than one would expect.
It’s all about knowing how to write prompts that produce the desired results.
So, the artist of the future will not be the guy wielding a brush, but a person who can translate ideas into prompts.
This person will work on custom prompts delivered by clients, or she is going to sell her best prompts on marketplaces.
Now you might think that nobody would pay for something as simple as an Ai prompt, but you’d be wrong. My Twitter friend Ian has been making $429 from selling prompts in the last 1.5 months, and he has just started this business.
The only question remaining is: Where to sell Ai art prompts for Midjourney or other generators like Dall-E?
You are spoilt for choice. It seems that new marketplaces are springing up every day.
In the following section, I will show you the 9 best sites and marketplaces for selling your prompts.
1. Prompt Flat

2. Prompt Base
PromptBase is the most popular marketplace for buying and selling prompts for DALL·E, GPT-3, Stable Diffusion + Midjourney.
PromptBase takes a 20% fee from sellers. So, prompt engineers keep 80% of every sale of their prompt, and on custom prompt jobs which is rather low.
At the time of writing, PromptBase only uses Stripe to send out payments to you
The prices range from $1,99 to $9,99. You can not sell more expensive prompts.
3. PromptHero
Prompthero started as a side project by Jeff Solomon. It quickly became the biggest prompt library for Ai prompts. You can use it to find millions of photos produced by artificial intelligence using DALL-E, Stable Diffusion, and Midjourney models.
While this site is great for inspiration, it doesn’t allow prompt engineers to monetize their creations.
4. Arthub.ai
ArtHub.ai is another community site for Ai artists to share, discover and generate reproducible Ai art and prompts. As a prompt engineer, you can search, upload and share your Ai generated art pieces on this platform. Unfortunately, it also doesn’t allow for monetization.
5. PromptSea
Promptsea provides a marketplace that allows anyone to tokenize Ai prompts into NFTs.
“The image will be tokenized into NFT along with the text-to-image prompt. The prompt is encrypted and revealed to its NFT holders only.â€
While this idea is innovative, it is currently one of the smaller marketplaces.
6. Etsy
Etsy is known as a marketplace for selling handcrafted products, but recently it also became a popular place for selling digital goods like Notion templates, or Ai Prompts.
The fee structure on Etsy is complicated, however, you will pay less than on sites like Promptbase.
First, Etsy charges $0.20 per new listing. Second, selling fees are 6.5%% of the sale price per transaction + a payment processing fee of about 3%. In the end, expect to pay around 10% in fees.
One advantage of Etsy is its flexibility. You don’t need to wait for approval, your products will go live as soon as you submit them. Moreover, you can charge whatever you want, so you could use it for selling more expensive Prompt bundles instead of selling only single prompts.
7. Gumroad
Gumroad is a popular marketplace and payment processor for digital creators.
For a long time, it had been one of the cheapest places to sell digital goods on the internet. This changed in 2023 when Gumroad increased its fee to 10% plus a processing fee. This makes the platform a bit more expensive than Etsy, but cheaper than Promptbase.
The only major downside of Gumroad is that it is not really a marketplace. Most sales will come from your promotions but not from the platform itself, which makes it less ideal for people with a small or no following on Social Media.
8. PromptAttack
PromptAttack is an online marketplace that specializes in AI prompts. As a seller on the platform, you can earn up to 80% on each sale that you make. Additionally, you have the option to publish a prompt for free to showcase your work and attract potential buyers. Currently, the platform offers the opportunity to publish prompts for Midjourney and ChatGPT, with the inclusion of Stable Diffusion and DALL-E to be added in the upcoming week.
Payment for sellers on PromptAttack is processed using the payment platform Stripe. As a seller, you have the flexibility to sell your prompts for prices ranging from “Free” up to $49.99.
9. Promptsideas
PromptsIdeas is the leading platform for purchasing and selling prompts designed for Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, DALL·E, ChatGPT and Bard.
PromptsIdeas offers creators an array of payment methods, including PayPal, cryptocurrency, and bank transfers, although the latter is available in select countries only. When selling prompts on PromptsIdeas, sellers are subject to a 20-30% fee.
The most popular prices for prompts on this platform range from $0.99 to $9.99. High-volume sellers enjoy the privilege of setting their prices above this range.
The platform also offers a collection of free prompts for all registered users.
